Last May 3, 2013, the PMFC in coordination with the Marketing Division, organized a Vinyasa Yoga Workshop. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice or discipline which originated in ancient India with a view to attain a state of permanent peace. Mr. Tristan Ronald Choa, a Vinyasa Yoga Certified Instructor and Bikram Yoga Pioneer Instructor, lectured and demonstrated the almost mystical benefits of this art.
The workshop, held at the Hospital Conference room of the DPOTMH, started at around 5:30pm and ended at 7:00pm. The participants experienced and enjoyed the different methods of relaxation, balancing and coordination, proper body postures, proper breathing and meditation which enhanced the overall rehabilitation of their cardiac system.
Studies show that Yoga is also used for the treatment of cancer patients, to decrease depression, insomnia, pain, fatigue, and also to increase anxiety control. Yoga has been known to act as a “mind-body technique to reduce stress”.
